Outstanding GCSE Results for 2024 Highlighted by Positive Residual Scores

We are thrilled to share our exceptional GCSE results demonstrated by strong positive residual scores using Yellis data from CEM.

These scores reflect the exceptional progress our students have made, showcasing the impact of high-quality teaching and the dedication of our students.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

  • Core Subjects: Our school’s GCSE results shine with a 0.23 residual in core subjects, reflecting exceptional progress beyond expectations! The achievement highlights the dedication of our students and staff in fostering a high-achieving learning environment.
  • GCSE Art & Design: A remarkable positive residual score of 1.1, indicating that students achieved, on average, a higher grade than expected.
  • GCSE Food Technology: An impressive positive residual score of 0.7, showing significant added value and achievement.

There are many aspects of Fairley House that I am proud, one of these is that we encourage all our students to sit the

GCSEs they like, and each and every grade they have worked towards is a success in itself.

This year has once again demonstrated our students’ courage and diligence, and they should be thrilled with their efforts

and results.

Mr Taylor, Head of Fairley House

Access Arrangements

All students are assessed for access arrangements so that we can seek to give them the time and resources they are entitled to and maximise their potential for success in their final exams.

Depending on learner needs some of the most common arrangements  include:

– 25% extra time

– Use of a reader/ computer reader

– Use of scribe/ speech recognition/ word processor

Access arrangements are built into lessons, tutorials, and Special Provision sessions in Key Stage 4

Students learn to use their arrangements with staff they are familiar with to build their confidence ahead of exams

All staff are fully trained in JCQ regulations, including access arrangement guidance.

You can view the current JCQ regulations here
